10 days in Peru – Cusco, Abra Malaga, downhill, rafting, Santa Maria, Urubamba
Next morning we started our real adventure - 4 days full of experiences. We had to get up very early because our bus picked us up 6:45 am. Then we drove among the mountains to Abra Malaga, which height is 4300 meters! Cold, lamas grazed next to the road, huge rocks, amazing view.
Our first route was a downhill from 4300 meters to approximately 2000 meters on a winding road, a 40-50 km long serpentine. We got mountainbikes and the important protectors, helmet, gloves. And the adventure went on. Some other people joined us as well to this four day trip.
While we rolled down from the mountains into the jungle the temperature, the humidity, and the plants changed completely. When everyone arrived at the finish line we jumped in to the bus and drove to our first accomodation in a very small and nice hostel in Santa María, Cusco. The owners were very friendly and the cooked amazing dishes for dinner, for lunch and next morning for breakfast too.
In the afternoon we had our next adventure. Rafting on the river Urubamba. 3 padelboats, 18 peoples plus the guides. It was nice, a bit wild, exicting and amazing to have rafting in the middle of Peru. And there was a unique surprise, a short break to have a bath under a waterfall! Amazing.
After the rafting we went back to our hostel to have a delicious lunch. After the lunch we got to know all the people who joined us. We went to bed early because the next morning we had to get up early.
