4 days in London – Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Greenwich, Nothing Hill (2nd day)
Our second day started with breakfast. My girlfriend and I found a great breakfast place next to the Kew Bridge train station. I ate a full English breakfast and my girlfriend had a gluten free stody breakfast. By the way, if you have gluten intolerance you can have gluten free meals almost everywhere in London.
After breakfast we took the train and went to central London. Our first destionation was the historic castle, Tower of London and the north bank of the river Thames. We walked among the walls of the Tower and we looked the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom. Then we walked up to the Tower Bridge to make some photos.
A bit later we jumped into an Uber boat and went to Greenwich where we walked through the court of the University of Greenwich. We walked through the Greenwich Park up to the Old Royal Observatory and the Greenwich Mean Time Zone. We sat in the grass and enjoed the fantastic view to London. Unfortunately there was quite a drought in London so I missed the beautiful green lawn in the parks.
After our relaxing break in the park we had lunch and I tried the famous Fish and chips. Sorry, but there was nothing special about it. It was a simple fried fish with french fries.
In the afternoon we got a bit unique but very quick experience. We visited the Emirates Air Line, aka the London Cable Car. The cable car crosses the river Thames from the Greenwich Peninsula to the Royal Victoria Dock 1 km long and we got a very unique view of London. It took 5 mins. My girlfriend has acrophobia but she overcame it and she enjoyed this 5 mins in the air.
We finished our day at the Notting Hill Carneval. The party and the procession was already over when we arrived there, but the crowd was still big. Unfortunately we could no longer enjoy the party atmosphere, but it was an interesting experience.
