A short skibreak in the Austrian Alpen (Innerkrems, Katschenberg)
Me and my girlfriend decided to get some adventure in the winter break between Christmas and New Years eve – a little ski break in the Austrian Alpen.
We reserved our accomodation in Hotel Schihof Innerkrems. Innerkrems is a very small village surrounded by mountains in the middle of Austria. It would have been ideal for us, because there was a ski slope at the end of the street, quiet close to the hotel ... but we found it unfortunately closed.
It was no problem, we had to go to another ski resort nearby. Katschberg was about 20-25 km far away, so we went there. Our experiences in Katschberg-Aineck ski resort: easily accessible by car, large and free parking lots, where free buses took the skiers to the entrance of the ski slope. Katschberg is a total of about 70 km of ski slopes and 16 ski lifts and cable cars.
There were a lot of people, but the many lifts and the large slopes spread out the crowd. Therefore, we stood in line maximum few minutes at any lift.
The weather was excellent, the sun was shining beautifully and there was a light wind up on the mountain.
The track was excellent for sports, but I think not really for beginners. Most of the track was classified as red, but the blue track held challenges too. As we are not professional skiers, it was not easy for us, especially for my girlfriend, who hasn't had skis on her feet for 25 years.
