Few days in Italy around Naples - Vesuvius, Pompeii, Sorrento (1st day)

How to spend a few days around Naples with a backpack?

We flought to Naples in June. Our flight arrived there in the afternoon. We took a common shuttle to get from the airport to the city center. At the zero day we only had timet to found our hotel and walked into the downtown to have a real Italian dinner an original pizza Neapolitan - I think the best pizza in the world.

Next morning we woke up early because we planned a long day wit full of sightseeings. We reserved our hotel next to the train station so we get quick the train to visit the volcano Vesuvius. We took part a bus tour to go up to the mountain. From the bus station on the top we had to walk 1 hour else to reach the peak of the Vesuvius. The weather was very hot and sunny in the middle of June, and there was no shadow so you need to take water, and a cap or something, don’t forget sun milk and don’t go there in white shoes because it's very dusty. To visit the volcano Vesuvius we need the whole morning.

After we came down from the volcano Vesuvius we had a very good Italian lunch. One of my favorite Italian food is the penne arrabiata. It's so simple and so delicious.

After lunch we went into Pompeii. The old city was buried under more than 4 m of volcanic ash and lava in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. It was an amazing experience to step into the riuns of the houses of the former residents. To visit Pompeii you need 2-3 hours to see everything.

In the afternoon we sat on a train again and went to Sorrento. Sorrento is also a very popular tourist destination because it is a beautyfull small town. Sorrento is located at the south-eastern coast of the Gulf of Naples. One of the famous product of Sorrento, what you need to try there, is limonchello a delicious alcoholic local drink with lemon, sugar and water. In the evening we walked around in this charming little town and looked for a real Italian local restaurant to had dinner. In the evening we took the train again to get back to Naples to our hotel.
